Acupuncture and Long Covid

Kristen Sparrow • May 09, 2022

In this interview with Kevin Tracey, a neurobiologist interested in using surgically implanted electrodes to stimulate the vagus nerve, he  and his interviewer postulate that Long Covid has autonomic dysfunction as part of the problem.  Vagal dysfunction could be from direct infection of the vagus nerve, but it could also be a side effect of the infection.

Keep in mind that acupuncture, through the action of the vagus nerve, decreases inflammation by putting the brakes on cytokines.

There was a recent observational study, not scientific, that showed benefit from acupuncture in a case of Long Covid.  This does not surprise me!  I’m not linking to the study because it is anecdotal.
