For any readers who are interested in some of the biochemistry behind the latest science on strategies to age more slowly. Many of the strategies we’ve discussed before, as well as the concept of hormesis. Basically, the current thinking is that we are too comfortable. Never cold, never hungry for example. So the idea is to stress the body slightly, not so much that you damage it, but enough so that stress the system a bit and then you recover. Previous blog posts on these concepts hormesis, and heat shock proteins, longevity , more longevity, and more longevity.
I suspect that acupuncture is a type of hormesis also. A slight challenge to the body that stimulates healing without overwhelming it.
